Tools built
to be kept.

Software the studio builds for the community rather than for a client — designed to work offline, hold someone's own material, and still be useful in ten years.

/ Why apps

A tool outlasts a video.

A recording is watched once. A well-made tool sits on someone's phone for years and quietly carries their own work — their compositions, their notes, their practice.

So the apps we build as seva follow a few fixed rules. They work without an account and without a connection. What a person creates stays on their own device and can be exported whenever they want it. There is no tracking and nothing harvested from the people using them.

They are built with the same care as our commercial work, with Sikhi at the centre of it rather than a client brief.

Tabla Mridang Sagar

A local-first tabla notation and practice book for iPhone and iPad.

  • iPhone & iPad
  • iOS 17.0 or later
  • One-time purchase
  • No tracking

Tabla is taught by ear and written down in a notebook, and that notebook gets lost. The app gives a student somewhere to write compositions matra by matra, with sam, taali and khali marked where they belong, then practise them against a metronome that follows the taal rather than a plain click.

Compositions can be printed as PDF sheets for a class, and the whole book exports as a single file the owner keeps themselves. Nothing is stored by us, because nothing needs to be.

Composition book screen listing saved tabla compositions with search and filter.

/ How we build them

Rules we do not bend.

01 / Local first

Your work stays yours

What a person creates is written to their own device and can be exported at any time. No account, no cloud, nothing held by us that they would have to ask for back.

02 / Quiet

Nothing is collected

No analytics and no tracking across other apps. A permission is only ever requested for a feature the person has actively chosen to use.

03 / Built to last

Useful in ten years

Offline by default, exportable in an open format, and small enough to maintain properly. A tool that needs a running server to survive is not a tool we would hand to the sangat.

/ Later

More apps are something we intend to build — there is no shortage of things the community could use, and the studio has the skills to make them. Nothing further is promised or dated yet. When something is ready it will appear here, and not before.
